Le Havre, Land of Sports

Le Havre is used to major international sporting events, notably the Transat Jacques Vabre. This status as a sports city is particularly significant, because several Le Havre athletes are qualified for the Paris 2024 Games: Amina Zidani in boxing, Margaux Bailleul in rowing, as well as Camille Lecointre and Jérémie Mion in sailing.

On July 5, Le Havre will not only be a city crossed by the Olympic Flame, but the stage city where the Olympic cauldron will be lit. This event celebrates the values of sport and Olympics in a unique way, immersing the entire city in the Olympic atmosphere.

The Journey of the Flame

The Olympic Flame will cross the main arteries of Le Havre, passing emblematic places such as the Town Hall, the beach, the Bassin du Commerce and the Catène de Containers. This course will offer students and residents a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the Olympic spirit.

Around 35 torchbearers will carry the Olympic Flame in Le Havre, including anonymous people and well-known personalities in the sporting field and beyond. In addition to the torchbearers, 24 flag bearers will form a guard of honor over the last meters of the route.

A Day of Festivities

The celebration is not limited to the passing of the Flame. Throughout the day, activities will be offered to celebrate sport and make it accessible to all. Here are some activities not to be missed:
